Full Membership - This is the "gold standard" of membership. RNs belong to their states nurses association or FEDNA and through that the American Nurses Association. Full members receive full membership benefits at the state and national level, including discounts on certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center. More importantly, full members support and have a chance to influence the decisions made at the natoinal and sate level that affect the practice of nursing and the health of our patients and our communities.

(Note: Any individual who is represented by the UAN or their state nurses association for purposes of collective bargaining holds a full membership under this category.)

Direct Individual Membership - In some states, RNs are permitted to join ANA directly. Direct ANA individual members receive full member benefits at the national level but not benefits at the state level. Direct ANA individual members support and have a chance to influence the decisions made at the national level that affect the practice of nursing and the health of our patients and our communities. Currently individual who live or practice in the following states can join under this category: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia.

(Note: Individuals who live or practice in the above states also have the option of joining their state nurses association directly. This membership option provides state level benefits but no benefits at the national level. For more information, go to the CMA web site.)

Individual Affiliate Membership - For RNs who can not afford to join ANA at this time but still want to support the important work of the profession, the individual affiliate membership category is ideal. Individual Affiliate Members receive limited benefits and can access the members only web site of NursingWorld.org.
